LAUNCHING TODAY: THE FIRST ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION TO CROWDFUND LOBBYING

Washington, D.C., September 14, 2016 – Lobbyists 4 Good, a new non-profit advocacy organization, launches today with the ambitious goal of restoring democracy and getting the government working for the people. The organization will achieve this by giving US citizens access the most effective and influential form of advocacy, professional lobbying.

 

With their crowdfunding model, everyday Americans will be able to donate to cover a portion of a lobbyist’s hourly rate. Once the organization has raised enough money to cover the hourly fee, a lobbying firm or a self-employed lobbyist will conduct a high-level meeting with a member of Congress or their staff to lobby for bipartisan legislation.

 

“We started Lobbyists 4 Good to give people the same amount of influence in the political process as corporations and wealthy donors,” says Billy DeLancey, co-founder and Executive Director of Lobbyists 4 Good. “Protests, letters, and tweets only go so far and people are left feeling angry that their voices are not heard.” Billy adds, “Change in government takes time and you have to be smart, strategic, and persistent. Lobbyists 4 Good enables everyday Americans to hire lobbyists who have political influence beyond what a constituent has with their individual representative in Congress. Our lobbyists can access the right people, at the right time, with the right message, to make a real and lasting change.”

In order to protect the 501 (c) 4 organization from the influence of large donors, Lobbyists 4 Good has established a donation limit of $5,000 dollars per person per the calendar year. Any donations larger than $5,000 will be automatically donated to their affiliated 501 (c) 3 organization, which does not conduct any lobbying activities but instead educates the public about their issues and brings together relevant partners.

 

Further, because Lobbyists 4 Good advocates for fixing democracy by limiting the influence of money in our campaign system, the organization has decided not to donate to any political campaign at any level of government, even if the candidate is a champion for their cause or one of their issues.
